BIOGRAPHY
Estonian soprano Arete Teemets studied singing at the Estonian Music Academy with docent Nadia Kurem and at the Conservatorio di Musica "Santa Cecilia" in Rome with maestro Rebecca Berg, graduating her M.A. studies with the highest honours. In 2010 Arete Teemets received the first prize at the Santa Chiara Classical Singing Competition in the category of sacred classical music, winning the Chori Praefecti award. She has also received the third prize from the International Opera Singers Competition 2011 in Spoleto (Concorso Comunita' Europea). In same year, she was awarded with the prize of Premio Via Vittoria which is given to the best singer of Conservatorio di Musica "Santa Cecilia".
In 2014, Arete Teemets won 1st prize at Concours Flame in Paris. In Estonia, she has been awarded with the Young Musician award of Marje and Kuldar Sink in 2010. Arete Teemets has participated at the master classes of Gabriella Tucci, Renato Bruson, Elisabeth Norberg Schulz, Ines Salazar and Joanna Kozlovska. In 2013, she has participated at "Accademia Rossiniana" (Conductor Alberto Zedda) in Pesaro. She has collaborated with the following conductors and pianists: Carlo Palleschi, Andreas Kowalewitz, Frédérick Haas, Rupert Dussmann, Marco Boemi, Enza Ferrari, Marco Forgione, Hilary Griffiths, Jurjen Hempel, William Kunhardt, Mihkel Poll, Piia Paemurru, François Gassion . Recently Arete Teemets has performed with the Belgian Baroque ensemble "Ausonia" at Festival de l'Abbaye de Saint-Michel en Thiérache in France. She has also performed at Teatro Lirico Sperimentale di Spoleto, Estonian National Opera, Estonian Music Academy Opera Studio etc. In addition to that, she has performed with world-famous Italian baritone Renato Bruson celebrating his 50 years in opera stages. In 2012, she has had a solo concert at Estonian largest opera festival "Saaremaa Opera Days". During this season, she performes solo recitals in addition to Estonia also in Switzerland, Poland, Italy and Greece.
Her roles include Madama Vezzosa (Ciampi's Le Favola dei Tre Gobbi), Lisetta (Leo's La Zingaretta), Kate Pinkerton (Puccini's Madama Butterfly), Rosina (Mozart's La Finta Semplice), Genovieffa (Puccini's Suor Angelica), Nella (Puccini's Gianni Schicchi), Sandrina (Mozart's La Finta Giardiniera) etc. She has also sung solo parts in following oratorios: A. Vivaldi "Gloria", "Magnificat, "J.S. Bach's "St. John Passion" BWV 245, "Coffee Cantata" BWV 211, cantata " Ach Gott, wie manches Herzeleid" BWV 58, M. Charpentier " Te Deum", " Messe de Minuit", H. Lepnurm cantata "Redemption in Christ".
